My fitness philosophy centers on the fact that physical fitness promotes emotional and mental well-being, and vice versa.

I have been working in fitness for 10 years, and I am an AFAA/NASM Certified Fitness Instructor. I am also certified to teach Les Mills Functional Strength, Body Combat, Body Pump, Body Flow and RPM. My pilates training rounds out all of my fitness programs.

Exercise is science, and science informs every aspect of my work. I also have my PhD in marine science, and when I’m not working as a conservation biologist or fitness instructor, I love to explore the ocean, mountains, lakes, and trails with my family.

My father, Gilbert Val Peterson, battled Parkinson’s for years. My father was an inspiration to all who knew him, and in his honor I am passionate about working with people facing PD challenges.
